A true believer will have these definite marks or signs. His nature and life will manifest these nine essential marks. It is important that a believer examine his life to make his calling and election sure (2 Peter 1:10). The Bible says that we should examine our own faith and prove and know ourselves (2 Cor 13:5-6).

2 Cor 13:5-6

5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

6 But I trust that ye shall know that we are not reprobates.

2 Peter 1:10

10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:

If you observe carefully, all these marks are granted to a believer as a gift by God’s grace.

1) A Life of Faith - ‘The just shall live by Faith’ - Rom 1:17, Gal 3:11, Hab 2:4

2) A Life of Repentance - Luke 13:5

3) A Spirit of Unworthiness (Humility) - Luke 18:14,

4) A Life led by the Holy Spirit  - Rom 8:14

5) A Heart which knows the Voice of the Lord - John 10:14,27, 1 John 4:6

6) An Overcoming Spirit ( 1 John 5:5, John 15:10 )

7) A Spirit of Love ( 1 John 2:10, 1 John 4:8)

8) A Hope for Eternal Blessings ( Rom 5:5, Heb 6:19, 1 Cor 15:19)

9) A Life of Spiritual Growth and Fruit( Prov 4:18,  1 Cor 3:7, John 15:2, Matthew 13:23 )
